El temps natural [Natural Time]

It is getting harder and harder to distinguish between the natural and the artificial. But our place in the universe is undoubtedly sheer nature and chance. We are located on one of the Milky Way’s spiral arms, orbiting in a solar system. During the day, we look up at the sky and see our closest star, the Sun. Can an artificial dark room capture its light? Earth is at just the right distance from the Sun for water to be able to exist in three states: gas, liquid and solid. That allows life to exist. We’re a planet of water and a planet that longs for water. Is it natural for a sea to dry up? Is global warming natural?

Àlex Rubio | AstroBarcelona

Solarigrafies is a theoretical and practical workshop looking at how to photograph the Sun and daytime landscapes with a pinhole camera. In it, we will reflect on light, the rotation of the Earth and the art of capturing time.

Result of the solarigraphies made with the pinhole cameras manufactured during the workshop on July 8
